Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa

The Fijian Elections Office has confirmed the publication of applications from two proposed political parties.

Speaking to the media, Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa says the application for People's First was published on Monday, and the application for Next Gen Alliance Party was published yesterday.

Mataiciwa also says that all Fijians are given seven days from the date of publication to raise any objections.

She says the objection period for People's First ends on the 10th of this month, while the objection period for the Next Gen Alliance Party ends on the 11th of this month.

She adds that after the objection period, they will conduct a proper assessment to confirm whether the proposed parties are registered or did not meet the requirements.

Mataiciwa had earlier said that the earliest possible Writ date for the next general election is legally set for the 24th of June, 2026 and if it is issued on this date, the first election day would be the 7th of August, 2026.

The last possible date for the Writ to be issued is the 24th of December, 2026 - meaning the last possible election day would be the 6th of February, 2027.
