Padarath to reappear in court over alleged fake Fiji Sun article

Benjamin Padarath, who allegedly posted a fake Fiji Sun article about Professor Biman Prasad and Lynda Tabuya, will appear in court again on 18th February 2026 for disclosure.

Padarath has been charged with posting a fake article about Professor Prasad and Tabuya with the intention to cause harm on 19th May this year.

Padarath has been granted bail on a cash bond of $4,000 with two sureties, one of whom is former Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhry.

Magistrate Yogesh Prasad has also ordered Padarath to surrender his travel documents and imposed an immediate stop departure order.

Magistrate Prasad has also advised Padarath that he must not use social media platforms, and if found doing so, he will be remanded in custody.
