Residents of Cunningham are raising concerns over piles of rubbish left along the main road, claiming the Suva City Council has not collected the waste for several days.
One concerned resident says the foul smell has become unbearable and is now posing a serious health risk to the community.
He says stray dogs have been scavenging through the rubbish and dragging waste into surrounding areas, worsening the situation.
The resident also claims the large yellow rubbish bin is overflowing and has not been emptied.
He adds that while many people living in nearby informal settlements do not pay city rates, residents should still take responsibility for maintaining civic pride and disposing of their rubbish properly.

The Suva City Council has acknowledged receiving complaints and told fijivillage News that it is working with its contractors to have the rubbish cleared today.
