Fiji’s Junior Kulas have made a stunning start to the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship after thrashing the Cook Islands 11-0 in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
Adi Reva was the star of the match, scoring five goals as Fiji dominated from the opening whistle.
Torika Boseiwaqa opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the fifth minute before adding her second in the 26th minute.
Esther Vunivi also scored before Reva began her five-goal haul with two goals before half-time.
Reva completed her hat-trick in the 50th minute before adding two more goals late in the match.
Temalesi Masi scored twice after coming off the bench, while Elisha Narayan completed the scoring with the final kick of the game.
The result is Fiji’s biggest-ever win at the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, with Reva also becoming the first Fijian player to score five goals in a single match at the tournament.
Head coach Nicola Demaine praised the performance but urged her players to remain focused on their next match.
Demaine says the team must not get carried away despite the impressive opening result.
Fiji will next face New Zealand on Wednesday at 5pm before taking on the Solomon Islands next Saturday at 8pm.
The semi-finals will be played on 16th September, with the final scheduled for 19th September.
The winner and the runner-up will qualify for FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2027.
