Former All Blacks Coach Scott Robertson has been named as one of four coaches to lead the Barbarians in their June match against reigning world champions South Africa.

It marks his first role since being removed as All Blacks coach in January.

Robertson, who has previously coached the Barbarians on four occasions including matches against New Zealand, Tonga, Wales and an All Blacks XV called the opportunity “special” and said it was an honour to wear the famous black and white jersey.

He will join a coaching quartet which includes Felipe Contepomi, the Los Pumas head coach, Patrice Collazo, the Racing 92 head coach, and Kenny Lynn, an Argentina assistant coach.

The Barbarians have faced South Africa nine times since 1952.

Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has welcomed the return of the storied invitational side.

The Barbarians will play against the Springboks on June 20, 2026, at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha.
