Deputy PS, Ministry for Employment

The National Union of Workers and the Fiji Sugar Corporation have reached agreement on three key industrial issues following discussion with Minister for Employment.

The meeting, attended by the Minister, the Deputy Permanent Secretary and the Director Labour Standards Services, focused on roster backpay, the Collective Agreement and the roster for the 2026 crushing season.

The Union and FSC Management also agreed on the roster for the 2026 crushing season, which takes effect immediately.

The Union is now calling on all its members at the three sugar mills to report to work according to the new rosters.

The parties agreed that calculations for workers' backpay and the Memorandum of Agreement will be finalised by next Thursday.

They also reached agreement on the remaining issues in the Collective Agreement covering tradesmen, clerks and general employees, with the agreement set to be signed on 28th July.

The National Union of Workers has thanked the Minister and his team for helping resolve the matters amicably, and also acknowledged the cooperation of FSC Management.
