No charges yet against father and son as Police investigate alleged Sigatoka assault

No charges have yet been laid against the father and son who remain in Police custody following the alleged assault of a 38-year-old man and his two 16-year-old sons in Mateqe, Sigatoka on Sunday.

The 38-year-old, Vimal Nand, later died at the Nadi Hospital.

Police have confirmed to fijivillage News that investigations are still ongoing.

It is alleged that Nand and his sons were assaulted by the two suspects following a confrontation over an incident involving one of Nand’s farm animals.

Police earlier said that a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Meanwhile, a Sigatoka resident has alleged that the suspects were drunk at the time and had brutally assaulted Nand and his two sons.
