Neymar will compete with Real Madrid forward, Vinícius Júnior and Barcelona forward, Raphinha for playing time if the veteran is fit to play at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Neymar is doubtful for his country's World Cup opener against Morocco next Friday because of a muscle strain in his right calf.

Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti says Neymar has to play in the position he's meant to play, he can't play on the wing.

Injuries have limited Neymar from featuring for the national team since October 2023 when he suffered an ACL tear while on international duty.

He was, however, included in Brazil's final 26-man squad for his fourth World Cup appearance.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will be held from next Wednesday to 19th July.
