With just hours to go until the NRL Grand Final, Sydney Roosters star Mark Nawaqanitawase is reportedly seriously considering a return to the NRL after completing his two-year rugby union deal with Japan’s Saitama Wild Knights.
Nawaqanitawase’s management reportedly met Roosters chairman Nick Politis in Brisbane, where the possibility of a future return was discussed.
The star winger has enjoyed his time at the Roosters and is said to have become increasingly open to returning to rugby league over the past six weeks.
His mother Fiona says she initially did not want him playing rugby league but has grown to love the Roosters and hopes he eventually returns to the club.
The Roosters are reportedly keen to bring Nawaqanitawase back and could offer him a lucrative deal, potentially making him the highest-paid winger in the NRL.
But before any potential return, Nawaqanitawase has one final job with the Roosters as he looks to help them beat the Newcastle Knights and claim the NRL premiership tonight.
The Roosters play the Knights at 8.30 tonight.
