The villagers of Navakawau in Taveuni are raising serious concerns about people illegally dumping rubbish and not cleaning up after using their coast.

The youths of Navakawau Village came together to clean the coast and managed to collect around 23 bags of rubbish.

Village nurse Monika Maria  says they are disappointed that people are dumping rubbish at the blowhole because the land is under their mataqali.

She says this action has reduced the number of tourists coming to the site, and they hope people will stop dumping rubbish in the area.

The video of the villagers raising this concern has been widely circulated on social media, and they are calling on members of the public to respect their land.

We have sent questions to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. They are yet to respond.
