Nadi secured a hard-fought 33–31 win over defending Skipper Cup champions Malolo in Round 9, with the Under-20 side also winning 34–32.
Nadi skipper Peni Naruma says the team is proud of the performance after holding firm for the full 80 minutes.
He says the main objective was to win after Nadi’s loss in round 8 to Nadroga.
Naruma says the team had a strong preparation week and worked hard to correct the errors from their previous game.
He has also praised the coaching panel for working tirelessly with the players throughout the week.
Naruma says Malolo was a tough opponent, especially as the defending Skipper Cup champions.
He thanked the Nadi fans who came out in numbers to support the team, as well as the Vanua o Nadi and Na Momo Na Tui Lawa for their continued support.
Naruma says the win is for the Nadi fans, and the team will now celebrate before preparing for Saturday’s match against Naitasiri at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
