Murder charges dropped against 2 accused in Nauluvatu Settlement case, third faces manslaughter charge

Two of the three accused of murdering a 30-year-old man in Nauluvatu Settlement are free after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has dropped the charges against them.

ODPP lawyer Tevita Naimila filed the relevant application for Alexander Leweniqila and Manoa Vakavunivalu.

Meanwhile, the murder charge against Aisake Lovobalavu has been reduced to manslaughter.

Naimila says there is partial confession from Lovobalavu during his caution interview, where he admitted to assaulting the deceased for harassing girls.

The matter will now be called before High Court Judge Justice Pita Bulamainaivalu on the 25th of June.

Meanwhile, Leweniqila’s mother Esita Toga says she is grateful that her son’s name is being cleared.

She says she faced a lot of criticism from her family as well when the whole thing started.
