More than 250 members of the Valebasoga Muslim community in Labasa are set to benefit from upgrades to the Valebasoga Jame Mosque, made possible through Government funding under the Ministry's Multi-Ethnic Grant Programme.
The Ministry says the Government provided $9,833 to support improvement works at the mosque, which has served as a place of worship and community gathering since it was established in 1978.
They say the project includes the construction of a concrete boundary fence, the installation of communal storage shelves and the tiling of key facilities to improve the mosque's security, hygiene and overall functionality.
The Ministry says the upgrades will provide a safer, cleaner and more welcoming environment for families and children to gather for prayers, religious learning and community activities.
It says the Valebasoga Jame Mosque has been a place of worship, unity and community for more than four decades, serving generations of families and the Muslim community, whose contributions have played an important role in the growth and development of Labasa.
The Ministry adds that the project is not only an investment in infrastructure but also in the people, helping preserve a place that continues to strengthen faith, promote unity and support the community for generations to come.
