Mau Village in Namosi unites to keep community drug free

The villagers of Mau in Namosi are now working together to stop drugs from entering their community.

Turaga ni Koro, Paula Kauyaca says marijuana has already made its way into their village, and elders have warned those entertaining such behaviour to put an end to it.

Kauyaca says controlling the entry of drugs is a real challenge, especially because their village is close to Suva, and people involved in such activities often travel easily by bus.

He also reiterated to fijivillage News the message delivered by the Turaga na Tui Namosi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua, during the Bose Vanua that anyone found with drugs in any village in Namosi will be removed from the village boundaries for five years.

He adds that for serious cases, Ratu Suliano warned that the offender’s house may also be removed from the village.

Kauyaca says the Tui Namosi reminded all elders present at the Bose Vanua that he wants Namosi to be a drug-free province.
