Manoa Kamikamica's alleged perjury trial begins in Suva

Former Deputy Prime Minister, Manoa Kamikamica's trial starts this morning in the Suva Magistrates Court.

He is charged with perjury and giving false information to a public servant.

FICAC is expected to call 4 witnesses while defence lawyer Wylie Clarke earlier indicated that he will only call 1 witness.

It is alleged that between 1st December 2024 and 31st March 2025 in Suva, Kamikamica knowingly made a false statement under oath, claiming that he had nothing to do with the appointment of the FICAC Commissioner.

It is further alleged that Kamikamica provided the same false information to the Commissioner of Inquiry (COI).

The allegations against Kamikamica stem from the Commission of Inquiry report into the appointment of Barbara Malimali as FICAC Commissioner.

Kamikamica had earlier made it clear to fijivillage News that the claims were malicious.
