Man charged for death of farmer in Batinivuriwai Settlement, to appear in Savusavu Court today

A 45 year old man accused of causing the death of a farmer in Batinivuriwai Settlement in Wainunu, Bua has been charged.

The accused has been charged with one count of murder and will be appear in the Savusavu Magistrates Court today.

Meanwhile, earlier reports indicated that the victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was involved in a violent altercation at the Batinivuriwai settlement bus shelter.

Police believe that the incident escalated into a brawl, during which the victim sustained a fatal stab wound to the chest.

The man was found lying by the roadside, and despite immediate efforts to rush him to the Wainunu Health Centre, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
