Madigibuli sentenced to life for murdering pregnant wife
Apisai Madigibuli has been sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 20 years, 9 months and 3 weeks, for killing his pregnant wife, Kitiana Baravilala, on 24th April 2024 in an apartment on Waimanu Road, Suva.

While delivering the judgment, Suva High Court Judge Justice Dane Tuiqereqere said Madigibuli showed no remorse and continued to defend the charge against him.

Justice Tuiqereqere says Madigibuli killed Baravilala out of jealousy and revenge after she had moved on with her life.

He told Madigibuli that Baravilala was not his possession and that he had cut her life short.

Justice Tuiqereqere says that Madigibuli had taken away Baravilala’s joy to see her daughters grow up.

He also said Madigibuli killed not only his wife but also her 20-week-old unborn baby.

Justice Tuiqereqere further said the force used in stabbing Baravilala caused immediate paralysis and that she later died from severe blood loss.

He said Madigibuli’s 4-year-old daughter, who witnessed her mother’s murder, will suffer emotional scars.

Madigibuli was found guilty of one count of murder.

Following the sentencing, Madigibuli was singing while being escorted away by Police officers.
