Lewageena of RSMS wins gold in Senior Girls Javelin despite health problems
Despite facing health problems in the lead-up to the 2026 Coca-Cola Games, 18-year-old Loata Lewageena defied the odds to claim gold in the Senior Girls Javelin event.

The Year 13 student of Ratu Sukuna Memorial School, who hails from Nadroga, says her preparation for the competition was far from ideal, as her health struggles prevented her from training properly.

Lewageena, who is the second youngest of five siblings and the only daughter among four brothers, says the victory means a lot to her, especially after the challenges she faced.

She said she was proud of her achievement, particularly representing her school on one of the country’s biggest sporting stages.

Lewageena dedicated her win to her family and credited her faith for helping her push through the difficult period.

She also acknowledged the support of her school and supporters throughout her journey.
