One of Fiji’s most decorated Flying Fijians, Leone Nakarawa, is returning home to join the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua ahead of the 2027 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.
The Rio 2016 Olympic gold medallist will bring extensive international and professional experience to the Drua, with his leadership and renowned ball skills expected to add strength to the young squad.
Nakarawa says he is looking forward to playing for the Drua, continuing his professional career and staying in Fiji.
Fijian Drua General Manager Rugby Baden Stephenson says Nakarawa is a quality person, leader and big-game player.
Stephenson says the Drua is excited to bring his vast experience into the forward pack and believes it will be special to see Nakarawa represent his family, village and country in the Super Rugby competition.
The offload maestro has made 132 professional appearances for Glasgow Warriors, Racing 92, Toulon and Castres, along with 68 appearances for the Flying Fijians.
He has represented Fiji at three Rugby World Cups, with his performances at the 2015 tournament earning him selection in the official Team of the Tournament.
Nakarawa was also instrumental in Glasgow Warriors’ historic 2015 PRO12 title triumph and was named Player of the Match in the Grand Final victory over Munster.
In 2018, he was named EPCR European Player of the Year after helping Racing 92 reach the European Champions Cup final.
