It was an epic conclusion to the first day of the Coca Cola Triple N Zone as the final event, the Senior Boys 100 metres, came down to a photo finish.

Nakasi High School athlete Veresa Valemei and Lelean Memorial School athlete Aporosa Laqila Rabula were neck and neck as they reached the tape.

Officials declared Rabula as the winner, crossing the finish line in 11.27 seconds, 3 milliseconds ahead of Valemei.

Taking home bronze was Sila Central High School's Lepani Naitini, who stopped the clock at 11.59 seconds.

In the Senior Girls 100 metres, Seini Irene Leweniqila of Lelean Memorial School outpaced her opponents, stopping the clock at 13.57 seconds.

Sereana Bakani of Muanaweni Secondary School finished second in a time of 13.77 seconds, while Bulou Bogidrau of ACS claimed bronze in a time of 13.82 seconds.

In other 100 metres results, Maika Tawake of Sila Central High School won gold in the Intermediate Boys, Adi Cakobau School’s Juliana Qoro claimed gold in the Intermediate Girls, Viliame Lutumailagi of Lelean Memorial School won gold in the Junior Boys, Adi Cuvu Volavola claimed gold in the Junior Girls, Samisoni Ramoko Tavaga won gold in the Sub-Junior Boys, while Sainimili Raiwalui won gold in the Sub-Junior Girls.

Day 2 of the Triple N Zone continues today at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
