The four people charged in relation to the alleged kidnapping of a 20 year-old woman in Lautoka have been further remanded, and the case has been transferred to the Lautoka High Court.

25-year-old Artika Sharma, 44-year-old Ajay Kumar, 24-year-old Ravinal Ravitesh Anand, and 28-year-old Sanjay Sharma appeared before Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa in the Lautoka Magistrates Court.

It is alleged that the group forcefully removed the 20 year-old victim from her home in Saweni, Lautoka, following an argument.

Police allege that Artika Sharma forced the victim into her vehicle while her three co-accused assaulted the father of the victim who attempted to intervene.

According to Police, the victim later jumped out of the vehicle and sustained injuries.

Artika Sharma has been charged with one count of kidnapping, one count of damaging property and one count of an act with intent to cause grievous harm.

Her three co-accused, Kumar, Anand and Sanjay Sharma, have each been charged with one count of kidnapping, one count of assault causing actual bodily harm and one count of criminal intimidation.

The first mention will take place on March 9th in the Lautoka High Court.
