Lautoka City Council says preparations are progressing well as planned for today’s match at Churchill Park, where the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua will take on the Skipper Select XV.

Lautoka City Council Chairman Taitusi Rosoki highlights that Ground 1 has been closed since December to allow for major maintenance works, including turf maintenance, sewer line realignment, repairs to the Watui temporary stands, painting, repairs to Pavilion B seating, water blasting of pavements, and general cleaning.

He adds that the Drua has made arrangements with the Police to ensure the safety and security of the public.

Rosoki stresses that the Council’s Town Rangers will assist with traffic control in partnership with the Fiji Police Force.

He also emphasises that Lautoka has an active District Crime Prevention Committee, led by Council Chair Manasa Draki, and that Fiji Police Officers will be patrolling the streets and present at the match venue to address any criminal activity.
