Kiran reveals high HIV risk among street children

Almost every child who lives on the street has HIV and AIDS.

This has been confirmed by the Minister for Children, Sashi Kiran while speaking during Queen Victoria School community walkathon at My Suva Park.

Kiran says as we enter to the festive period, we often see an influx of children on our streets.

The Minister is urging parents and guardians of QVS community to work through their networks, talk to parents and relatives, because a lot of children, when they come and live with their relatives, go to experience the nightlife or go onto the streets.

She also stated that it is important to keep our children off the streets because the danger of drugs and HIV is very real.

Kiran adds during this festive season, she hope they will continue to talk about kindness, compassion and inclusion.
