29-year-old Fijian martial artist Kartik Naidu has travelled to Cebu City in the Philippines to further his training in San Miguel Eskrima and learn directly under Supreme Grandmaster Panto Canete Flores.

Naidu who is a Police officer and Pastor began learning San Miguel Eskrima several months ago under the guidance of one of Flores’ top students.

Flores says Naidu’s love, passion and commitment to martial arts led him to travel from Fiji to the Philippines to meet him personally and continue his training face-to-face.

He says Naidu’s goal is to deepen his knowledge, strengthen his techniques and further develop his skills as he works towards the Master Level of Filipino Martial Arts.

Flores says throughout his journey, Naidu remains committed to honouring the principles, traditions and legacy of San Miguel Eskrima.

Naidu also has a background in boxing, having trained in Fiji under the guidance of his father, George Tavuna.

Flores says their training helped Naidu develop practical fighting techniques, discipline and valuable martial arts experience.

He says Naidu’s journey reflects his dedication to learning, respect for martial arts and determination to expand his knowledge and skills through direct training and guidance.
