The final rites of the Founding Director of the Punjas Group, Kanti Lal Punja, were held today at the Lovu Crematorium in Lautoka.

Punja passed away peacefully last Sunday in Auckland, New Zealand, surrounded by his close family.

He was a prominent businessman who made significant contributions to Fiji’s economic development.

He was the beloved husband of Jayaben Punja and a devoted father to Jagdish, Yogesh, Rajesh, Pravish and Jaishree Amarsee.

His farewell service was held at the Girmit Centre in Lautoka, where many people gathered to pay their last respects.

Through the FMF/Punjas Group, Punja played a vital role in strengthening the nation’s food supply chain, supporting local industries and sustaining livelihoods across the country.

The company has also played a key role in supporting government efforts, particularly following natural disasters, by working closely with authorities to ensure the timely procurement and distribution of food rations to affected communities.

During times of crisis, the company consistently provided reliable support, helping to ensure that essential assistance reached those most in need.

The late Punja’s leadership, generosity and commitment to national development and humanitarian efforts will always be remembered.
