NRU says the contribution strengthens the Union’s grassroots rugby programme and reflects the commitment of the Vanua o Nawaibuta, its Board, and its people to the development of local rugby talent.
NRU acknowledged the layered investment made by Nawaibuta in supporting both the team and the broader growth of sports within the region.
They say the donation also symbolizes confidence in the ability of local talent to excel in sport, business, and community development.
Receiving the jerseys on behalf of the team, Captain Ioane Gasai expressed gratitude to Komai Nawaibuta Suliasi Daunitutu, Board Chair Tuidama, the Board, and the Vanua for hosting the team over the past month.
Gasai acknowledged God's guidance and the unity shown by the wider Northland family from Verata, Vugalei, Tai Vugalei, Namalata, Nailega, Sawakasa, Naloto, Wailevu, Nayavu, Namena, and Dawasamu.
He says support has continued to flow from communities stretching from the highlands to the shores of Vualiku kei Tailevu, including those residing and working both locally and overseas.
The Captain says that despite facing numerous social and logistical challenges, the Northland side has overcome strong opposition from the Ra, Nasinu, and Tavua provincial teams to secure a place in the Viti Levu elimination final against Rewa.
Gasai says he has invited supporters and rugby fans to attend the highly anticipated clash against Rewa at 3.00pm on Saturday, 27 June 2026, at the Dawasamu Secondary School Grounds.
The team conveyed its sincere appreciation to the elders of the Vanua and its people for their unwavering belief, support, and encouragement throughout the campaign.
