I will sorely miss the team.

These are the words of Swire Shipping Fijian Drua Head Coach Glen Jackson following his announcement last week that he will leave the franchise at the end of the season.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Jackson reflected on his six-year journey with the Drua, describing the side as “a team like no other” and praising the passion and resilience shown by his players.

Jackson says representing a rugby-loving nation like Fiji comes with immense pressure.

The coach highlighted the growth of the squad over the years, noting that many players have developed significantly since the early days of the team.

Jackson adds that it has also been encouraging to see players returning to the Drua from overseas, reflecting the strength and appeal of the club.

Beyond the field, he emphasised the strong connection between the team and the Fijian public, something he says he will deeply miss.

Jackson also spoke of the personal significance of his time in Fiji, having been involved not only with the Drua but also the Flying Fijians and Rugby World Cup campaigns.

While acknowledging his departure, Jackson says the decision comes at the right time as he looks to focus more on his family, thanking the club for its understanding and expressing his “loloma” for everyone involved.

He remains confident that the Drua will continue to grow and succeed, building on the strong foundation laid during his tenure.

The Drua will take on the Chiefs this Sunday at 4:30pm in the Super Round at One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha.

Looking at other matches this week, the Crusaders will take on the Waratahs at 7.35pm Friday, the Hurricanes will meet the Brumbies at 5.05pm Saturday, the Blues will take on the Reds at 7.35pm, the Highlanders will face Moana Pasifika at 2pm Sunday.
