Jackson confident in Mayanavanua's return to lead Drua

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua have been boosted by the return of skipper Temo Mayanavanua, who will lead the side this weekend against the Brumbies following a recovery from a knee injury.

Head coach Glen Jackson has confirmed that Mayanavanua has made an impressive return from the injury he suffered in February and is back ahead of schedule.

However, the Drua will still be without key players, with Frank Lomani yet to recover, while Elia Canakaivata is being managed after picking up a hip concern following a heavy workload in recent matches.

Jackson says the decision to rest Canakaivata was also influenced by the challenging conditions expected for their away fixture.

In Canakaivata’s absence, Isoa Tuwai will start at number 8, with Jackson expressing confidence in the young forward’s ability after strong performances off the bench.

Despite a couple of significant injuries, particularly among the wingers, Jackson says the squad remains in relatively good shape heading into their clash against the Brumbies.

The Fijian Drua will play the Brumbies at 9.35pm Saturday.

In other matches, the Blues will meet the Highlanders at 7.05pm tomorrow, Moana Pasifika will meet the NSW Waratahs at 9.35pm, the Chiefs host the Hurricanes at 7.05pm Saturday, while the Force meet the Crusaders at 11.55pm.
