India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the T20 World Cup final in Ahmedabad successfully defending their title.

Batting first, India posted a massive 255 for 5 in 20 overs. Sanju Samson led the charge with 89 runs off 46 balls, while Abhishek Sharma scored a quick 52 from 21 balls and Ishan Kishan added 54 off 25 balls.

New Zealand bowler Jimmy Neesham briefly slowed India’s momentum by taking three wickets in the 16th over, but Shivam Dube finished strongly with 24 runs in the final over.

Chasing 256 runs, New Zealand struggled despite Tim Seifert’s 52 off 26 balls, losing wickets regularly. India’s Jasprit Bumrah starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 15 runs, as New Zealand were bowled out for 159 in 19 overs.

The victory means India have now won the last three men’s white-ball ICC tournaments, while New Zealand suffered another World Cup final defeat.
