India sealed their place in the Super 8s with a commanding 61-run victory over Pakistan in Colombo, stretching their winning streak against their rivals to nine completed matches.

After weeks of uncertainty over the fixture, the match went ahead without incident despite visible tension, with the captains not shaking hands at the toss.

India’s innings was built around a brutal 77 from 40 balls by Ishan Kishan, who attacked from the outset on a turning surface.

Pakistan’s spinners slowed the scoring in the middle overs, but India still posted a challenging 175-7.

The chase quickly unravelled, with Hardik Pandya striking in the first over before Jasprit Bumrah removed two batters in the second, effectively ending the contest inside the powerplay.

Usman Khan top-scored with 44, but Pakistan were bowled out for 114 in 18 overs.

India will next face the Netherlands in their final Group A fixture on Thursday at 1.30am, while Pakistan must defeat Namibia to keep their Super 8 qualification hopes alive.
