A Heavy Rain Alert remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure which is associated with cloud and rain is affecting the country from the north.
They say it is expected to gradually move over the rest of the country until Sunday.
The rain is expected to affect the country until Saturday.
The Weather Office says Sigatoka-Korolevu, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nasinu, Yasawa and Mamanuca group can expect some showers and isolated thunderstorm from later tonight.
