A Heavy Rain Alert is now in force for the interior, southern and eastern parts of Viti Levu from Rakiraki, Korovou, Naitasiri, Nausori, Suva, Navua, Pacific Harbour to Sigatoka, Cakaudrove and southern Bua provinces, Taveuni, Lomaiviti Group, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands.
The Nadi Weather Office says a slow-moving trough of low pressure with cloud, showers, and rain lies over Fiji and is expected to affect the group for the next few days.
Expect heavy rain with isolated thunderstorms.
The Weather Office says this may lead to flash flooding of flood-prone low-lying informal settlements/communities, businesses, and Irish crossings leading to traffic disruptions, surface flooding on streets in urban areas with poor drainage.
You can also expect wet roads and reduced visibility, especially during heavy rain, as it will increase the risk of road accidents.
