Govt urges caution over misleading electricity claims

Govt urges caution over misleading electricity claims
A misleading graphic claiming that Fiji will face nationwide power rationing from June 1st is currently being widely shared on social media.

The government says it is aware of the circulating post and confirms that the information is false and has not been issued or endorsed by the government or Energy Fiji Limited (EFL).

It says the graphic contains inaccurate claims designed to create unnecessary fear and panic among the public.

The government is advising members of the public not to share unverified information and to rely only on official updates issued through government channels, Energy Fiji Limited (EFL), and recognised authorities.

The government says spreading false information during sensitive situations can cause unnecessary alarm and confusion.

It is also encouraging Fijians to act responsibly online and help stop the spread of misinformation.
