The Government says extension aims to protect jobs, maintain essential services and support key industries affected by fuel-related cost pressures.
They say concession will continue to benefit existing eligible recipients, including Energy Fiji Limited, bus operators and businesses using diesel for power generation, such as mining operations, manufacturing companies, hotels and resorts.
The Government says existing eligibility requirements and administrative arrangements will remain unchanged.
They say extension is expected to help ease fuel-related costs in key sectors, supporting the continued delivery of electricity and public transport services while sustaining economic activity in tourism, manufacturing and other industries.
The Government also recognises that higher fuel prices affect transportation, production and service delivery costs, placing additional financial pressure on businesses and households.
They further say comprehensive review of the concession will be undertaken before 31st December 2026 to assess its effectiveness, financial implications and whether continued Government support is necessary.
The Government adds that the measure reflects its commitment to maintaining essential services, protecting employment and strengthening Fiji's economic resilience against external pressures.
