Marist Brothers High School student George Taoba was overwhelmed after being badged as the school’s Head Boy for 2026.

Taoba told fijivillage News that since primary school, his goal had always been to one day become Head Boy of Marist, and today he has fulfilled that dream.

The 17-year-old served as Deputy Head Boy last year.

Originally from Tubou, Lakeba in Lau, Taoba acknowledged his parents for their unwavering support throughout his educational journey.

Taoba is urging fellow school prefects to uphold the integrity of the school with humility and perseverance.

His mother, Elaine Williams Taoba, says the family had been preparing for George’s badging, as they were confident he would once again be appointed to a leadership role this year.

Elaine says her son’s upbringing has played a major role in shaping who he is today.

She describes him as a disciplined child, adding that they have intentionally trained and guided him to become a leader.

The mother of four also acknowledged her family for their continuous support in helping her and her husband raise George.

She is urging her son to set a clear vision for his role and to ensure he fulfils his purpose in life.
