FRU targets compliance and governance reforms ahead of new season

The Fiji Rugby Union will be conducting financial consultations and training with the Provincial Rugby Unions in the coming months to ensure they are fully compliant before the new season begins.
FRU Chief Executive Officer Koli Sewabu says there is a lot of work that needs to be done in the governance and administration of not just Fiji Rugby, but its members and provincial unions.
He says once a month, they will go out to consult and run training and education programmes.
Sewabu says they are also looking at the constitution of their member unions, whether it is amending them or establishing new ones for their new members.
When questioned about building trust with fans and the public, FRU Chair John Sanday says the transition has not been easy, but they are making a genuine effort to build trust with the people, the fan base, and sponsors.
He says the most important thing is the currency of trust, and that is going to take time, as trust is not built overnight.
Sanday says they have to earn it, and they will do so.
