Former Tender Committee member says no justification given for tender waiver
Former member of the Tender Evaluation Committee and Head of Cluster Social Services at Fiji Procurement Office, Maire Wise says no justification was given for the waiver of tender for the purchase of rural laboratory equipment.

Wise took the stand in the health tender trial of former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, former Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and former Health Minister Doctor Neil Sharma.

She told the court there were no grounds to justify the waiver for CTN 66/2011.

Wise says the Ministry of Health did not provide any reasons why Hospineer was recommended instead of Roche Diagnostics.

She also said she had prepared the withdrawal letter for the rural laboratory equipment on the 12th of December, 2011.

Cross-examination will begin at 2.30pm.

Bainimarama is charged with one count of abuse of office.

Sayed-Khaiyum is charged with one count of abuse of office and one count of obstructing the course of justice.

Doctor Sharma is charged with two counts of abuse of office and two counts of breach of trust by a person employed in the public service.
