Flash Flood and Heavy Rain Alert in force for Fiji

Flash Flood and Heavy Rain Alert in force for Fiji
Get ready for a wet New Year as a flash flood and heavy rain alert is now in force for the Fiji group.

The Nadi Weather Office says an active trough of low pressure with cloud and rain is gradually approaching Fiji from the west and is expected to affect the group till later tomorrow.

They say isolated heavy rain may lead to flash flooding of flood-prone, low-lying informal settlements/communities, businesses and Irish crossings leading to traffic disruptions.

There might also be surface flooding on streets in urban areas with poor drainage.

The Weather Office says wet roads and reduced visibility, especially during heavy downpours, may lead to increasing the risk of road accidents.
