Fijians will pay less for fuel from today, with diesel recording the biggest price drop, while households using liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will pay slightly more.
The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has announced the new regulated fuel and LPG prices, which come into effect today following its monthly review of international refined fuel prices, the Butane Contract Price, freight rates and foreign exchange movements for imports during June 2026.
The price of diesel will decrease by 47 cents per litre from $3.39 to $2.92, in areas of Viti Levu located within 3 kilometres of any public road.
Prices will vary in other areas.
Unleaded fuel will decrease by 38 cents, from $3.44 to $3.06 per litre.
Premix will decrease by 34 cents, from $3.27 to $2.93 per litre, while kerosene will decrease by 37 cents, from $2.71 to $2.34 per litre.
Meanwhile, LPG prices will increase across all categories.
The price of a 4.5kg gas cylinder will increase by 43 cents, from $17.17 to $17.60, while a 12kg cylinder will increase by $1.12, from $45.80 to $46.92.
Bulk LPG will increase by 9 cents per kilogram, from $3.53 to $3.62, while autogas will increase by 7 cents per litre from $2.43 to $2.49.
The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission says while international fuel prices eased during the review period, global energy markets remain highly volatile due to geopolitical tensions, changing trade conditions and supply chain disruptions, meaning fuel prices could still move up or down in the coming months.
FCCC Chief Executive Officer Senikavika Jiuta says although the lower fuel prices are welcome news for consumers and businesses, they reflect market conditions during the review period and should not be seen as a sign that prices will continue to fall.
Jiuta says international petroleum markets remain highly sensitive to geopolitical developments, supply disruptions and freight costs.
She says the FCCC will continue to closely monitor these factors to ensure any increase or decrease in international costs is appropriately reflected in Fiji's regulated fuel prices.
