Fijiana sharpen basics ahead of Wallaroos showdown

The Fijiana squad concentrated on refining their core skills during yesterday's training session as preparations intensify for their much-anticipated clash against the Wallaroos.

Head coach Mick Legge, speaking at training at Albert Park, says the team remains in high spirits and is drawing strength from experienced leaders within the group, including senior players Alfreda Fisher and Bitila Tawake.

Legge says that the combinations are coming together well, with players fully focused on their primary goal — delivering a strong performance against Australia.

He added that the squad has faith in their structures and is placing equal emphasis on mental preparation to match the physical demands of the contest.

Following the Wallaroos test, the team will return to Fiji for a week of recovery before shifting focus to the upcoming Oceania Women’s Series, scheduled to take place in Fiji in mid-April.

Samoa and Tonga have confirmed their participation in the tournament, while Japan is still expected to finalise its involvement.

Fijiana will take on the Wallaroos for the Vuvale Bowl on March 27 at GIO Stadium in Canberra.
