The Vodafone Fijiana XV have created history, claiming the WXV Global Series Challenger title for the first time after defeating the Netherlands 20-17 in a closely contested match.

The Fijiana got off to a flying start, with tries to Merewairita Neivosa and Ivamere Nabura Rokowati to lead 12-7 at half-time.

The Netherlands came back strongly in the second half, scoring two quick tries through Linde van der Velden and Pleuni Kievit to take a 17-12 lead.

Fiji did not give up, continuing to put pressure on the Netherlands, which resulted in a try to prop Selai Naliva to level the scores at 17-all.

A last-minute penalty gave the Fijians a chance to make history, and Varanisese Qoro stepped up and slotted the three-pointer to seal the win.

Neivosa was awarded the Player of the Match award.
