Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Osea Kolinisau says his side is ready to fight for a strong finish as they prepare to kick off their Valladolid 7s campaign in Spain tonight.
Speaking from the team’s base in Spain, Kolinisau says Fiji remains firmly in contention despite sitting in fifth place alongside Spain, France and the USA.
He admits the side has fallen short in recent semi-finals and playoff stages, including in Hong Kong where expectations were high.
However, Kolinisau said the squad has learnt valuable lessons from those performances and is determined to respond positively this weekend.
He says the players are highly motivated heading into another important championship round and are focused on proving they can compete consistently at the highest level.
The Fiji Airways Men’s side will begin their campaign against France at 11.40 tonight.
They will then face the USA at 4.24am tomorrow before taking on hosts Spain at 12.12am Sunday.
The Men’s Cup quarter-finals begin at 2.27am Sunday, the semi-finals are scheduled for 8.44pm Sunday, while the final will be played at 2.26am next Monday.
Meanwhile, the Fijiana 7s side will take on the USA at 8 tonight before facing Australia at 12.51am tomorrow and South Africa at 8pm tomorrow.
