Fiji has received a major tourism boost after being named among National Geographic’s 25 best places to visit in 2026.

National Geographic's Christine Retschlag says Fiji offers far more than postcard beaches, highlighting its pristine coral reefs, lush mountains, waterfalls and the renowned warmth of its people.

She notes Fiji’s growing appeal as a voluntourism destination, where visitors can give back through conservation and community projects such as coral planting, native tree restoration and protecting endangered wildlife, often organised through resort-led programmes like Loloma Hour.

Retschlag adds that these meaningful experiences sit comfortably alongside classic Fiji highlights, including world-class surfing at Cloudbreak, snorkelling, and relaxed island resort life.

National Geographic’s Best Places to Visit in 2026 list includes Akagera National Park, the Basque Country, Beijing, the Black Sea Coast, Coastal Oaxaca in Mexico, Dominica, Fiji, Guimarães, Hull, Khiva, Manila, Maui, Medellín, the North Dakota Badlands, Oulu, Pittsburgh, Québec, Rabat, Rio de Janeiro, Route 66 in Oklahoma, the Dongseo Trail in South Korea, the Dolomites in Italy, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Vancouver, and Yamagata Prefecture.
