The Vodafone Fiji Bati will be looking to repeat their historic victory over New Zealand nine years ago, which secured them a place in the 2017 Rugby League World Cup semi-finals, when they face the Kiwis in their final pool match this weekend.

Fiji created history in 2017, edging New Zealand 4-2 in the quarter-finals, and Fiji Bati captain Api Koroisau is confident his young squad can repeat the feat this year.

Following an encouraging 36-22 loss to the Kangaroos in Brisbane, the Bati head to the Gold Coast with renewed confidence ahead of their do-or-die clash with the Kiwis.

Koroisau says pulling off another victory like that and reaching the semi-finals again in such a tough pool would be incredible.

He says beating New Zealand again, especially with the team they have this year, would mean the world to the players and all their fans.

He adds that the support has been incredible, and the players would love to repay the fans for their support.

The Bati will meet the Kiwis at 4.30pm on Saturday at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast.

In other matches this week, England will take on the PNG Kumuls at 9.05pm on Friday, Australia will meet the Cook Islands at 9.05pm on Saturday, Lebanon will play France at 6.40pm on Sunday, and Tonga will take on Samoa at 9.05pm on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Vodafone Fiji Bulikula will face France at 2.20pm Saturday in a do-or-die match.
