Fiji and Australia strengthen cultural ties at traditional welcome ceremony for Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese

Fiji and Australia’s strong cultural ties and shared commitment to unity have been highlighted during a traditional iTaukei welcome ceremony at the Grand Pacific Hotel this Morning for Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, as the two countries move to further strengthen their Vuvale Partnership.

First Nations representatives from Australia were also acknowledged and welcomed.

On behalf of Fiji’s President, Prime Minister, Government and people, Albanese, Australia’s Senior Foreign Minister and senior Australian Government officials were welcomed to Fiji.

The traditional iTaukei ceremony was held as a mark of Fiji’s highest regard, respect and honour for Albanese and to acknowledge his official visit to strengthen the Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership.

Prime Minister Albanese acknowledged Fiji for the warm welcome and for honouring Australia with what he described as a meaningful ceremony.

He says Fiji and Australia share strong cultural and people-to-people links.
