The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji extends its sympathy to all passengers and families affected by the recent maritime incident involving a fibreglass boat that was transporting passengers to
the Lomaiviti Princess XII and reportedly capsized in rough sea conditions on Thursday.
MSAF strongly reminds all vessel operators and members of the public that voyages should not be undertaken when weather conditions are unsafe.
The Authority also states that strict adherence to official weather advisories is critical, as proceeding in rough sea conditions places lives at serious risk.
MSAF confirms that investigations will be conducted into the fibreglass vessel involved, as well as the operations of the Lomaiviti Princess XII, including loading activities that reportedly occurred during rough weather conditions.
They add that these investigations will be undertaken in accordance with applicable maritime safety regulations and procedures.
