Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has admitted it is impossible to replace captain Bruno Fernandes, who is facing up to a month on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
Fernandes was forced off during Monday’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa and will miss Saturday’s clash against Newcastle.
Although Amorim said the injury is not expected to sideline the midfielder for long, sources believe Fernandes could return for the Manchester derby on 17 January, potentially missing up to five matches.
In the league standings, Arsenal lead with 39 points, followed by Manchester City with 37 points, Aston Villa is in third place with 36 points, while United are currently seventh with 26 points.
