Former Fijian Holdings Limited CEO Mohammed Nouzab Fareed has appealed his sentencing and conviction at the Suva High Court following his conviction for indecently assaulting a woman in his office.
Fareed’s lawyer, Hemendra Nagin informed the court that while an appeal against the sentence and conviction has been filed, he will also apply for bail of his client.
Nagin told the court that Fareed has been in prison since he was found guilty on 22nd July.
Fareed was sentenced to 8 months and 22 days in prison by the Suva Magistrates Court in August, with part of the sentence suspended.
The offences were committed on 25th June and 13th September 2019.
Fareed appeared before Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull this morning.
He has been given 7 days to file and serve their written submissions.
The matter has been adjourned to 13th November for hearing on bail pending appeal.
