Eight children, aged between one and 14 years, have been killed in a shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana in the United States, in what police say is a domestic-related incident.
Police say the shooting happened around 5am local time when a lone gunman opened fire on 10 people as officers later chased the suspect, who was shot dead while trying to flee.
Authorities say the shooting happened at multiple locations, including two homes on the same block and another nearby residence.
Some of the children are believed to be related to the gunman.
Police confirmed that all those who died are juveniles adding one of the victims reportedly fled to another house after being shot.
After the incident, the suspect hijacked a vehicle and attempted to escape before being stopped by police.
Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux says the incident has deeply affected the entire community and has called for prayers for the families.
Police Chief Wayne Smith says authorities are working with state police and other agencies to investigate the case.
