Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro revealed this to fijivillage News, saying the move is part of the Ministry's efforts to address ongoing staffing shortages.
Radrodro says the Ministry is also reviewing teacher placements across schools, districts and divisions to better meet staffing needs.
He says the shortage is being driven by natural attrition, retirements, resignations and teachers leaving for better opportunities both locally and overseas.
Meanwhile, the Fijian Teachers Association says the number of teacher vacancies has reached 1,000, describing the situation as alarming.
The Association says the growing shortage is largely due to brain drain and stagnant wages, which continue to push qualified teachers out of the profession.
